ode to self-portraits
I have a piece of art that is a jar of paint brushes and scissors, called “Self-Portrait” by Larry Welo hanging over my dresser in lieu of a mirror. That piece has me thinking recently. Historically, I’ve always done my New Year’s planning with almost no pause for reflecting on the year that has just gone by. This year is a little different, and I am even considering making some self portraits in the months to come.
Reflection offers the opportunity to curate what we chose to offer to the future. This Christmastime Whit is making the old cookie recipes from my grandmother and my little boys are getting familiar with the flavors that marked the holidays for me when I was their age. What will the new year hold? I don’t know, but I’ll be just a little more thoughtful about what I carry forward with me into it.

I am sending you some brand new greeting card designs this month. And I made you some little recipe cards to write your favorite recipes on as a treat. They have the Corningware “cornflower” design on them, the same one my mother has on a casserole dish from my childhood.
Merry Christmas from my family to you! May you get time to reflect and celebrate this holiday season.
