This month’s print is a reproduction of a 2017 figure drawing.
I used to draw and paint models, alongside other artists, a few times each month. (Kind of like a pick-up league for artists; just for practice.) Recently, while spring cleaning the studio, I came across the many, shorthand, figure sketches and drawings from these sessions. I kept only the good ones…. and I love this one. The original was made with watercolor, from a model holding a 15 or 20 minute pose.
I’ve been tweaking my creative practice lately. And trying things to temporarily replace figure drawing until we are all vaccinated. I wrote you a letter all about it.
I call the treat this month: “The Anatomy of a Figure Drawing.”
I’ve annotated couple of figure drawings with descriptions tricky parts, little things I love, and areas where I’ve clearly cheated, etc. It should give you a giggle.
