This month’s print is a reproduction of a watercolor sketch of a quartered, boiled egg, that I painted just recently.
As I was shipping the original piece to the new owner, I made myself a copy. Then, I thought maybe you’d like this cheerful little ditty too. With Easter early in April, it felt very topical. It’s loose and looks almost edible. I’ll be hanging my copy in my new kitchen later this month.
That perfectly cooked egg led me to muse about my love for cooking. I yammered about it in a letter to you. I love the composition and aesthetics of food.
And since we are suddenly in the kitchen, I went ahead and made you two illustrated bookmarks for your cookbooks. One has the recipe for my favorite vinaigrette invention, and the other is an alarming finding from a 1972 reprint of the Joy of Cooking. Brace yourself.
