About: I learned quite a bit about St. Thérèse of Lisieux as a child attending St. Teresa Catholic Elementary. I bought a poster-sized photo of her, dolled up at age 14 and poised to ask the pope to let her enter the Carmelite convent a few years early. I hung that poster in my college dorm room and subsequently, in every studio I’ve had. This little nun, who died at 24, mastered an inner spiritual life and sense of personhood that is beyond my understanding. And she charms me and has been excellent and steady company. I painted her atop a collage of magazine and newspaper images of crowds and cities, and gold candy wrappers. She is part of The Gold Project. This painting is unframed. It arrives ready to hang with a cleanly painted edge and hardware + hanging wire installed.
