This month’s print is a reproduction of a brand new ink illustration with a watercolor wash, entitled “golden story.”
storytelling machine
At the end of July, I made this illustration of a historical goldmine site in Alaska for a commission project. And when I finished it, I was surprised by how it lit up my imagination. It took me right back to the American West. The piece seems like the setting to countless tall tales, memories, and plots. This illustration is definitely part of a story.
Recently on his podcast Akimbo, Seth Godin called human beings “storytelling machines.” I think it is an excellent definition. I have been thinking about this storytelling feature.
In my letter I take you on a trip out West. Then I take you on a walk in my neighborhood. I’ve included a little exercise, a tiny adventure, so you can explore and enjoy that storytelling part of yourself.
*All of my prints come with a print certificate, detailing the work and reproduction quality.
