This month’s print is a reproduction of a new painting with a touch of gold foil collage. It is part of my soon-to-be-released collection of abstract paintings.
glimpses of the invisible
I am working through a big idea. Visuals and colors are a more comfortable language for me and a safer way to begin to “talk” about it. So I started an abstract series called Packaged in Bodies.
It is about the scarcely visible parts of people, the fears, feelings, memories, imaginations, and spiritual edges of ourselves.
These things bubble up and become visible to us in shy glimpses: washing over a face or in a responsive action. In my work, little pieces of collage peep through color fields. This month’s edition of the print club is my first share of the work, and the letter is my first attempt to articulate what it means to me and why I’m making it.
I also talk about the impact and qualities of color. So it was natural to share color swatches and a description of how I use them. I send them with little ideas for color play.
I hope you like it.
