July 2023

This 31st edition of the print club is comin’ in at the very tail end of the month. Thank you so much for waiting on it!

This month, I’ve made you two little prints that emerged from my sketchbook: A 4x6” print duet of a lemon and a sardine titled “romance p.1 & p.2”.

I have been determined to keep a sketchbook and to use it every day that I’m in the studio. I realized this month, that I have been pretty faithful to my new habit for seven months.

As I flip through the pages of my sketchbook I see my silly and sentimental self. I see tired days and distracted days. I see the need for color, the need for experimenting, and a very brash and scribbly quality that feels a bit like a mirror to some edges of my personality.

Recently, I painted sardines in my sketchbook when my dermatologist told me to eat them. She advised me to update my diet as she cut off my steroid prescriptions.

Dang it.

Hilarious.

If you’re me, the next natural step is to look at some sardines online. As soon as I did I needed to paint a few. Annnnd give them some zesty company. In addition to making your sketchbook prints, I also made a little, exclusive, youtube video for the Print Club as a treat. It’s a full sketchbook tour!

See you next week, IN AUGUST!!
