October 2024
sending some golden leaves
I picked up some golden leaves and brought them to the studio to paint for you. They all fell from their stem and beautiful geometric orientation by the time I got them home from my jog. That encapsulated my feelings. Everything outside is dazzlingly beautiful as October wraps up in New England. But the light and the temperature and the leaves all change before I can get the tiniest grasp on their loveliness. The season is mirroring other ephemeral parts of life. I also fill you in on what I’ve been doing in and out of the studio.
I send my letter with a little illustrated bookmark that I made just for you. And I am sharing a reproduction of my painting “Older Brothers,” the two boys pictured in the piece are my nephews painting way back in 2015, but suddenly the fall colors and two boys playing together fit this month’s letter perfectly. Enjoy the last days of leaves, dear friends.
